2015 YPC President: Jenica McClure

It is with great enthusiasm that we introduce Jenica McClure, your new YPC President!

jenicaRecently, we sat down with Jencia while she shared her thoughts about YPC, history with the committee and what she’s looking forward to most in 2015.

YPC: How long have you been a member of YPC?
JM: In 2010 a friend of mine invited me to a networking event, and I joined shortly after. I never imagined one night out having a cocktail would have such an impact on my life!

YPC: What positions have you held prior to becoming President?
JM: Most recently, I served as Vice President, Sponsorship Chair and I have chaired Rockin’ Date Night since its inception.

YPC: What do you love the most about YPC?
JM: The people! Those that I have met through in-kind donations and networking events, and have developed personal relationships with have created a phenomenal experience for me. San Diego is lucky to have so many great people that support Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS).

YPC: With a busy annual calendar, which is your favorite YPC event?
JM: It would have to be Chocolate & Vino and Rockin’ Date Night. Chocolate & Vino is a dream come true featuring multiple bites of yummy food and great drinks. Rockin’ Date Night was an event I created in 2012, and I have developed such great friendships with the contestants. Those that get involved become passionate about YPC, and it has really helped continue to grow YPC’s mission.

YPC: What BBBS Awards were you honored with last year?
JM: Community Volunteer of the Year

YPC: What aspect of being President are you most excited about?
JM: Engaging more people about taking YPC to the next level. We have an amazing board of dedicated people, and I know this year will bring top notch events that can help raise funds to provide more children the mentorship they deserve through BBBS of San Diego.

YPC: If you could tell our YPC supporters one anything, what would it be?
JM: “Measure your life not by what you have but by what you give.” I am not sure who wrote this, but I completely agree with it! Everyone has something to give – time, support, skills, passion and money. Determine what you are passionate about and give…Your life will be must more fulfilling.

Jenica had a few more thoughts she wanted to share with you…

When I’m out you can find me…
Checking out one of San Diego’s newest restaurants or out walking along the harbor.

What’s to come for me in 2015…
Not everyone knows this, but I can easily be bribed with a maple donut, so I am super excited to check out all the specialty donut shops opening in San Diego.

Spring is around the corner and I am looking forward to…
Padres Home Opener! It’s my favorite San Diego “Holiday!” Also, making more trips to the Little Italy Farmer’s Market.
