The San Diego Young Professionals Committee (YPC) is committed to supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County by planning and hosting several fundraising and networking events throughout the year in an effort to raise funds and increase awareness for the organization as well as recruit future Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
Since its inception in 2004, the YPC has raised well over $400,000 in funds to support the mentoring programs at BBBS of SDC. These funds are used to help expedite the process of finding a mentor for hundreds of children who have been on the waiting list for a Big Brother or Big Sister.
Currently, the YPC is comprised of over 20 active members who meet at least once a month to plan several fundraising events each year. The committee consists of an executive team, including a President, Vice President, Secretary, Marketing Chair, Sponsorship Chair, Membership Chair and Event Logistics Chair. Each committee member works hard to secure all logistical needs for each unique event in order to ensure fundraising goals are met for BBBS of SDC.

A sampling of past YPC events include the group’s annual “Chocolat & Vino,” their signature chocolate and wine tasting event every summer; “A Night at the Oscars” at The Witherby; “White Party” at LOUNGEsix; “Oktoberfest” at The Tilted Kilt; “Party at the Paddock” on Closing Day at the Del Mar Races and “Cinco de Mayo” at The Prado. In addition, the group regularly hosts happy hours and mixers at San Diego’s hottest restaurants, event venues and nightclubs.
