She joined YPC in November 2013 and is very excited to be a part of such an incredible group of individuals.

I love YPC because it allows me to work with one of the most influential non-profits in San Diego. Big Brothers Big Sisters and the people who work for the organization are so incredible – you can actually see and feel what your hard work is going towards. I have polished many skills being involved with YPC, but I have really developed my leadership skills. I went from going from a committee member to Marketing Chair to President and YPC allowed my to develop into those leadership roles.

Here is a quote (you can edit too if you need to. its long, so feel free to paraphrase): “I joined YPC after I graduated college to get involved with the community and get to know other San Diego professionals, but I have received so much more from this experience than I ever anticipated. I have had the opportunity to meet amazing people with so much passion for the organization and have been able to work towards influencing and bettering the lives of so many kids in the San Diego Community through the one-to-one mentoring that Big Brothers Big Sisters offers. I am honored to be a part of this esteemed group of people.”

Brittant Malkin2

Brittany Malkin
Business Affiliation – Distinguished Programs

Howdy! I’m Brittany. I have been a Big Sister through BBBS for 4 years now, and joined YPC in 2017. I wanted to join YPC to contribute back to the organization that has rocked my world in so many ways. And not to mention, the events we plan are amazing, and my fellow committee members have been a great support system. Go Team!

I’m originally from Bakersfield, Ca and I moved to San Diego in 2007 to attend SDSU. I’m very proud to call San Diego home now. I work as a Sales Executive for Distinguished Programs, and we specialize in commercial real estate insurance. We are on the carrier side, so I work directly with agents and brokers. I truly love what I do, and I’m grateful to do it living in such a beautiful city.

In my free time, you can find me reading, cooking, running, hiking, learning the piano, kickboxing, hanging with my little sister, being a social butterfly with friends, or in complete relax mode. I’ve really been working on that thing we call balance. Oh, and I love travel (but who doesn’t).

YPCCarlosFlores Carlos Flores

Carlos has been a part of the YPC since 2014. I am a member of the outreach committee. I feel like everybody needs a mentor in one way or another. There is so much to learn, and so many kids aspiring to take over the world. I am a former big, and I also enjoy teaching kids science and engineering as a volunteer. During my free time, I like to kitesurf, salsa dance, rock climb, hike and cook. During the day, my passion led me to solve complex problems as an engineering and research team leader. Because of my mixed ethnic background -Salvadoran, Asian and Italian-, people seldom believe that I was born in El Salvador. The phrase I hear the most is “Your Spanish is so good!”. “Oh, Thank you!”
